Group Classes

Good company,

-and calm dogs.

Dog reactivity can be overwhelming, isolating, and stressful—for both dogs and their people. Our group classes are designed to provide clear guidance, professional support, and realistic strategies to help reactive dogs build emotional regulation, confidence, and safer responses to their world.

This program allows you to access expert behaviour support at a fraction of the price, while working through a structured plan tailored to your dog’s specific triggers and needs.

Who Are Our Group Classes For?

From Assistance Dogs, Show Dogs and Obedience Champions, to our delightful Naughty Dogs, our group classes bring them all together - and that is where the magic happens.

  • Dogs who are reactive, but not dangerous (we have one-on-one sessions for those)

  • Owners who feel anxious or unsure how to manage walks or public situations

  • Owners who want ethical, controlled exposure to people, places and dogs

Classes are not a quick fix. They are designed for owners who are committed to understanding their dog and making sustainable, welfare-focused change.

What Is Reactivity?

Reactivity is an over-response to a stimuli, often driven by fear, frustration, anxiety, or arousal. Triggers may include:

  • Other dogs

  • People (adults or children)

  • Vehicles, bikes, or scooters

  • Environmental stimuli (noises, movement, confined spaces)

  • Handling or veterinary procedures

Reactive behaviour may look like barking, lunging, growling, freezing, avoidance, or emotional shutdown. Importantly, reactivity is not a training failure or a dominance issue—it is a communication and emotional regulation challenge.

How Group Classes Will Help

First have Behaviour Consult, we will assess your dog and let you know if they are ready for group training. If not we will recommend a one-on-one package to get them ready.

You will receive:

  • A comprehensive behaviour history review

  • A personalised reactivity management and training plan

  • Clear explanations of why your dog is reacting

  • Practical exercises you can implement safely at home

  • Ongoing professional guidance and accountability

What We Focus On

Rather than suppressing behaviour, we focus on:

  • Emotional regulation and threshold management

  • Safe, humane behaviour modification

  • Building predictability and trust

  • Owner handling skills and confidence

  • Environmental setup and management strategies

  • Long-term skill development, not short-term control

Our approach prioritises learning, safety, and welfare, while recognising the real-world challenges owners face.

What Makes Our Classes Different

  • We welcome reactive dogs, or dogs who lack confidence in social settings.

  • Delivered by professional trainers

  • Individualised guidance - no generic approach

  • Clear, realistic expectations

  • Strong emphasis on owner education

  • Suitable for complex cases and long-term outcomes

We work with you as a team—supporting both you and your dog.

Outcomes You Can Expect

With consistency and support, clients commonly report:

  • Reduced intensity and frequency of reactive responses

  • Improved ability to manage triggers safely

  • Increased confidence for both dog and handler

  • Clear understanding of their dog’s emotional needs

  • Stronger communication and trust

  • Ability to take your dog out to cafe's

Progress is measured in emotional resilience, not perfection.
